The ForzaDads tuning garage #2.  We’ll feature tunes from members of the GD Forzadads car club that you can use and muck about with if you please.

This is an S class tune from Aki2403 for the – Porsche 911 GT2 RS (997 GT2)

Since this car starts out in S class there isn’t a whole heap of changes to be made to it.

It’s still quite an effective beast though, and is best when being pushed to it’s limits.

This tune has a slight tendency to under-steer, it’s correctable with a little power-on over steer if you know what you’re doing, otherwise careful cornering is beneficial.

With a top speed of 197mph & 0-60 in 3.2 seconds it’ll not keep you waiting.

For racers, the initial experience of the sweeping turns and gentle elevation changes provides an enjoyable place to build skills, but many of the course’s corners—particularly the downhill segments—will provide a true test of nerves as perfect braking and turn in are required to master them. The narrow course also has few places to pass, so racing strategy is paramount—pick your overtaking spot wisely. More than anything else, Maple Valley is one of the most fluid courses around, with a flow that results in a high average speed. That also makes the course, especially the short variant, perfect for drifting as well. Regardless of what you want to do on-track at Maple Valley, the stunning colors of the fall leaves are the perfect backdrop.

Forzadads Hot Lap #4

Here are the details for the 4th Hot Lap

Track : Ladera Test Track – Full

Car Class : C

Closing Date : 12th May 2013 – 21:00

Part of the massive racing complex inspired by the mountains near Barcelona, Spain, Ladera Test Track is specifically engineered to push cars to the limits. Ladera is intended to be a location where drivers can explore their car’s tune, testing for weaknesses and looking for the subtle improvements that will give them the edge in close racing. Ladera’s long carousel is a great place to examine the limits of adhesion, and the many tightly kinked chicanes allow close inspection of how cars handle quick side-to-side loading. With seven turns over the full 1.2 mile course, it is also an exciting place to assess the competition by going wheel-to-wheel with other players. Not to mention that the beautiful setting enhances the track’s realism—Ladera’s brightly colored tarmac contrasts nicely with the ancient rocks and vibrant trees for a wholly immersive racing experience.

Georgia’s Road Atlanta course, owned by local automaker and racing team Panoz Motorsports, is most famous as home to the crowning race of the ALMS season, Petit Le Mans. The 1,000 mile endurance race was one of the original events in the ALMS season, and the winner of the race in each class automatically qualifies for the 24 Hour of Le Mans race the following year. Some may remember Road Atlanta as the scene of two of the most spectacular crashes in history, when a Porsche 911 GT1 did a complete backflip in 1998, followed in 2000 by a BMW V12 LMR—less a fault of the track and more an issue with insufficient aerodynamic development on the cars. Constructed in 1969 out of a farmer’s field in an area better known for oval-track racing, Road Atlanta has attracted some of the best North American race series to roar around a road course, including Can-Am, Trans Am, Formula 5000, and AMA motorcycle racing. Revived from a period of disuse in the mid-1990s by Don Panoz, changes included the addition of a chicane (Turns 10a and 10b) to bring the track up to international race standards—but on the long straight leading up to that chicane, the best LMP1 cars, properly tuned, can exceed 200 mph. The track’s elevation changes and a wide variety of corner types make it the perfect venue to test the extreme performance of the latest ALMS and LMS racers.

Whether it’s the tight turns or the breathtaking scenery, mountain passes and fast cars seem to play well together. In that spirit, the Bernese Alps distills the ultimate high-altitude driving experience into a state-of-the-art road course the equal of the world’s greatest circuits. This track was inspired by the mystique and challenge of the passes nestled among the highest mountain range in Europe, threading the course along old mountain access roads, through tunnels cut into living rock, under craggy glacier-studded summits, past a luxury ski resort, and down to a quintessentially Swiss mountain town. The course is offered in three challenging configurations. The primary characteristic of Bernese Alps is the overwhelming sensation of speed. The tarmac is wide and forgiving, allowing you to stay on the track while maintaining a fast clip; throughout much of the course, you’ll be at full throttle. Despite all the room between the rumble strips, you’ll have to exercise exceptional control to hit the apexes perfectly. Taken as a whole, the Alps course provides the awesome rush of velocity for any racer, but exceptional challenges for those working on honing their Forza skills.

After the fun that people had with the last hot lap contest, not to mention the simply AMAZING lap times that some people were pulling out of the bag we’re bringing it back!
This time it’s purely bragging rights that are up for grabs, but don’t expect that to mean the competition is going to be any less fierce. From round #1 we’ve got a gap of less than two seconds covering the top 5 lap times, I have a feeling this is going to get competitive!

Forzadads Hot Lap

The dust has settled after the 10 round @Gamerdads / @InsertCoinTees Hot Lap challenge and since it was so much fun I thought we would start it up again.  This time it will be for bragging rights only but it is an excellent way to learn tracks and sort out tunes for cars.

The rugged mountain east of Barcelona known as Montserrat (meaning “jagged mountain” in Catalan, the language of the Catalonia region) is achingly beautiful. The smooth forms of the weathered, exposed rock make this area, the site of a famed Benedictine abbey, a popular tourist attraction. In the world of Forza, however, Camino Viejo de Montserrat is the setting for an epic road course spanning the mountain, comprised of a series of old alpine access roads converted into a multi-purpose track environment, inspired by the real-life location. While every variant of Camino Viejo is challenging, the Extreme Circuit is a serpentine 4.3 mile route that explores both the beautiful surroundings and also the limits of your car. The relatively narrow course climbs up into the furthest heights of the mountain, and then rapidly plummets in a sweeping and technically challenging series of turns. It takes a special car and a skillful tune to be competitive on each one of the Extreme Circuit’s varied segments. Even Camino Viejo’s undulating Mini Circuit, a half-mile oval ribbon, takes skill to master. If you think you know Camino Viejo already, Forza Motorsport 4’s new 16-player grids will take the wheel-to-wheel action on the mountain to a whole new level.
